1. Before removing the backing paper or premask, attach some masking tape to both ends of the graphic and tape it in position.
2. Make sure you are happy with the position. Stand back, look at the graphic, make sure it sits right with the angle and lines of the car.
3. Use a chinagraph pencil to put locating marks on the graphic eg, door gap, front and back of the graphic.
4. Remove the graphic now, and remove any wax or polish with prepsol (or equivalent, available from automotive paint suppliers). Use clean rag to wipe off any wax or polish, and the other rag to wipe off any prepsol residue. Make sure the door edges are clean.
5. Reposition the graphic, using the locating marks. Place a piece of masking tape vertically to hold the graphic in place.
6. Peel back the backing paper about half way, cut the paper off with scissors....
7. Using the spear card, quickly and carefully rub down firmly, working from the middle to the outside. Take care not to create bubbles or creases.
8. If a bubble or crease forms, you can peel the graphic back (before rubbing down too hard) and rub down again.
9. Finish rubbing down the first half, and then remove the backing paper from the rest of the graphic.
10. Lay the graphic down close to the vehicle (but not on it) and continue the rubbing down procedure.
11. When the graphic is completely rubbed down, remove the premask, slowly pulling it back on itself as shown.
12. Carefully trim both sides of the door gap 1 or 2 mm back from the edges with a trimming knife or scalpel. Finally. Check for air bubbles. If there are any, they can be carefully removed by piercing with a pin and pushing the air out through the hole. It is important to look at the graphic from different angles to make sure there are no bubbles and also to ensure that all the edges are properly adhered. The installation on this side is now complete! Repeat the procedure on the other side, making sure the location is exactly the same. Time to take a digital photo and email it to Auto-Grafix!
